Got everything standard except added Vista Home Premium 64bit. From the specs it looks like a great laptop.

Looking forward to receiving it and playing games that were release post 2002 :)

I did a lot of research on this forum, which is easily the best I've found for laptop info.

i ordered my f8va-c1 aug 16. it arrived aug 26. i poked around with it for about 2 hrs, went through the initial vista setup, rebooted, and....well, it didn't reboot. it died. it went into some weird loop, i'd hit the power button, led indicators would come on for a few seconds, then it would just die. if on AC, it would just keep cycling like that. screen never got to illuminating. shipped it back to ASUS for repairs. "needs a new motherboard. model is so new, we have no motherboards, so have to get it shipped from taiwan, two weeks". i said, uh, no - ship me a replacement unit. they're thinking about it over the three day holiday weekend. sheez.

not very confident it's not going to do the same darned thing if i ever get it back. i'll probably request that they do at least *some* burnin on the darned thing before they ship it back to me.

doesn't leave a great impression on a first-time asus laptop buyer like me. i thought i was getting a rock solid device. i'll give asus credit for being responsive in dealing with it, but i'd really have preferred NOT to have to ship my brand new laptop in for repairs the very next day after i got it.

cq or c1....typo? I'm either going to get the F8VA-C1 or U6V pretty soon...would like to hear how that pans out. Sounds like just very bad luck.

Looks like you got a "lemon" :( Sorry about that, it happens sometimes. Indeed, not the best way to get acquainted with an unknown brand.
