    With so many threads about problems and questions and general bad mood I decided to search something up to maybe give people a little chuckle and perhaps make them feel proud to be flying the Asus flag.

    This is from alienware's news site - 1/15/08 Alienware launches Area-51® m15x notebook

    Alienware launches the all-new Area-51® m15x notebook computer, a powerful DirectX®10 capable system built on the industry’s most advanced mobile technology and Alienware exclusives like the AlienFX® lighting system.

    * First 15.4-inch notebook to market with the NVIDIA® GeForce® 8800M GTX.
    * First 15.4-inch notebook to feature an Intel® Core™ 2 Extreme processor.
    * Increased flexibility through Alienware’s BinaryGFX and Smart Bay technologies

    Sorry AW, the C90 took that honor almost half a year ago since it can support the x6800 Conroe processor :p.

    And just for S&Gs let's compare the 2 extreme processors.

    x9000 vs.x6800

    2.8ghz vs. 2.93ghz
    800mhz FSB vs 1066mhz FSB
    6mb L2 cache vs 4mb L2 cache

    hmmmm...I wonder who the winner is :D

    Now granted with an 8800gtx behind it the m15x will mop the floor with a C90 in benchmarks and games :( but still, we can claim the title of "First 15.4" with a C2D extreme processor"!!!!!!

    Yeah, maybe mail ASUS and suggest they sue Alienware. :D

    It seems some companies still ignore the fact ASUS exists. I don't like the newer main-stream, cheap-notebook trend of ASUS, but it's really putting it on the map. I don't think it's wise for other companies to ignore them. (Alienware with their niche market don't really need to care, though)

    Although I wouldn't write off a-priori the larger-cache, slower FSB CPU. Cache matters a lot in performance...

    This forum really has become very depressive with threads about new problems being posted every day.

    Thanks for this little breath of fresh air!

    @E.B.E: You're right. ASUS should really concentrate more on delivering quality products.
    I mean, that's what they've been known for, right?

    Yes, but they've changed in the past 2 years, aiming more for the mainstream market. And my point was they can no longer be ignored by competitors, people buy a lot of ASUS products. :)

    Even though they are aiming at the mainstream market they still offer innovative products like the C90 series or the Eee and that is what I really like about them!

    Since they design and manufacture their own notebooks, unlike most companies, Asus has the opportunity to try different ideas and they take advantage of it. Their continual innovation and experimentation, while it can be annoying since they regularly will scrap any future versions of a notebook they don't want to continue within a few months of its release, still marks the most notable feature about them. While many of their ideas fail or do not turn out as well as they hoped, many others have done very well. And this is what makes Asus an interesting brand to follow, in my opinion.

    I agree to some extent.

    But they shouldn't let quality slip for the sake of innovation, I think, and it seems they are doing that, at least to some extent. But this is a discussion for another thread... :)
