I just bought an Asus U1F. Are there any carrying cases that are built specifically for smaller lappys? I don't want to get a case that fits "up to 15 inch notebooks" because there's no point in getting a tiny notebook and using a huge bulky case. Is there something nice (preferably leather) that's a bit lighter with a slimmer profile? Price isn't a huge issue.

    Thanks!

    I DEMAND PICTURES!

    But seriously, awesome purchase :)

Where are you located? If in the US, ebags.com is a good place to start. If price isn't an issue, take a look at Waterfield, Tom Bihn and Crumpler cases.

I purchased a very nice small case for my Asus S6f from Waterfield Designs. They will make custom cases for your laptop. Their service is excellent.
What are your first impressions of the U1. I am considering purchasing that model also. Thanks for any information you'd like to share.

I literally just bought it, but so far so good. At first, I was having a bit of buyer's remorse, knowing that I could get a Lenovo x60 with a 7200RPM 100Gig HD and 2G Ram for more than $400 less (the x60 was my original choice for an ultraportable; I bought the U1F sort of on a whim). The U1F has some nice things about it, and the speed isn't too slow, given a 4200RPM HD and 1.5G ram -- at least for the simple tasks I require.

Overall, a top product. I just regret that I payed more for a notebook that is a bit weaker. I've never seen the Lenovo in person, but I think the size and the widescreen of the U1F might also trump Lenovo.

Waterfield, like every other site out there, doesn't have the U1F listed as one of the notebooks. Some of their cases look okay, but a lot of them are too decorative for my taste. I just want something simple; black, leather, slim, no ornations. They seem to offer a good selection, but the sizing charts are just too confusing for me. Maybe I'll contact them and ask for a custom case -- I really want something that fits snugly.

Beny didn't you get the slip that comes with U1F ? Do you really need a case?

There is a sleeve that comes with the U1, in the box.

If you want black, leather, and sexy, look no further than Booq bags. A bit pricey though.

Use the sleeve that Asus provides with the U1, and then stick it in a backpack. Don't throw the backpack around, bang it against walls, anything else stupid, etc. and it'll be fine.

    hi Drew,

I too purchased U1f just before a week and I wrote a small review in the U1f skinny thread. Look the messages by my thread and u will find my review (I did only posted 5to 6 , so its easy to find the review there.)SO you can have an opinion.

And the real advantage of u1f is , that its easy to upgrade the hardrive to an SSD later, SO i think its a huge benifit.
