Hi all - I thought i'd save some of you some money. I just used the MS Live search tool to get 20% off my buy-it-now purchase on Ebay from Excalibur PC. The coupon is through M$, not excaliburpc.

I stole the process from here
    http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview.aspx?catid=40&threadid=2198292
Just FYI, i went to live.com using FF and it didn't work, but when I used IE it appeared. I can't wait for this thing to get here!

BTW - what're your thoughts on excaliburpc? I probably should have checked to see if theyre an authorized re-seller, but they have stellar resellerratings and they were prettygood to me last purchase I made with them.

I hope to save you guys some money! :)

Yeah, but at laptop prices, it might not matter if you get 20 or 30% off b/c the max dollar amount is $250.

Here's my confirmation email from Microsoft

oh, I didn't know there was a max of $250, though from Slick Deals, it was mentioned that a 10% eBay coupon MAY be stackable, which would make it a really good deal! :)

Well I've had an existing Live account (through hotmail/xbox live) and everything is coming from the same sources as previous communications. From what I understand this is an effort by M$ to try to pull users from google/yahoo to use Live search. The worst case scenario is that I paid full price for a computer I was going to buy anyways. There are a lot of scam sniffers out there and none of them seem to be balking at this deal.

Sounds too good to be true. That would cost MS millions...

Will Asus honor their warranty even if Excalibur PC is the ebay seller? I know a lot of mfgs will not honor warranties when their product is bought off ebay.

FWIW, here is the FatWallet thread about this deal
    http://www.fatwallet.com/forums/hot-deals/838081/

I get nothing out of this, I just wanted to share the deal with the online communities that've helped me make good decisions on purchases.

I would think so, the receipt should still only show that you bought it from them. They claim all the warranties are intact on the ebay auction.
