    I just got the laptop but when I turn it on all I get is a flashing cursor in the top left corner. What do I do?

    Is the OS installed? Are you trying to install the OS now?

    Do you have a USB flash drive in a USB port? If so it is trying to boot from it. Take it out and reboot.

    You can try to put a bootable CD(windows cd) to your optical drive first, let you see how it is going...... Check the BIOS, and see that it can recongize the HD, then check the bootup sequence(1st bootup device) is in optical drive(DVD/RW).

    The flashing cursor is a result of a previously used or partitioned drive. You did not say whther you bought this with windows or not. I am guessing not. In biso set boot order to boot from cd before the hdd. After that you will be able to boot from a bootable cd like a windows disk

    Its most likely what these guys are saying, I had this problem with my desktop that if theres a floppy in the drive it will give me the blue screen of death, I take it out and its fixed.

    But mainly, have you load the OS on it? (Windows XP, Windows XP Pro, etc.)
