I'm trying to get rid of all the bloatware (along with the fact that my harddrive is split in two) so I'm trying to reinstall Vista. The issue is that I don't know how to do that. I'm not sure what to do after putting in the DVD so any help would be appreciated.

You boot the computer with it inside then follow the instructions. Don't insert the driver disk when prompted though (and do i manually once in windows).

The HDD beeing split in 2 is a good thing. Allows you to keep data when re-installing windows

Well I was able to figure it out and everything seems to be running smoothly. Now I just need to download all the drivers. Which specific ones should I download anyway?

Well opps. Already reinstalled Vista and clicked to do it using my full harddrive. By the way, did my old Vista get completely deleted or do I still have some clean up to do?

I thought you dont even need the recovery dvd, just f9 on startup and follow the prompts or do I have it wrong?

You need to install drivers for anything in the device manager that has an exclamation point next to it. The rest are "optional" but many offer bug-fixes or enhancements, i.e. the most recent video drivers.

Your old Vista is gone. If you still want two partitions, which is a good idea, you can still use the recovery partition/disks to do it over again and select the pertinent option - I think it's #3.

If you're using the stock hard drive and haven't wiped it clean, then yes, you can use the recovery partition from the hard drive. Press f9 as you boot to launch the recovery. This option is much faster but doesn't allow for you to custom pick drivers for installation.

    Nrbelex's explanations are very clear.

I will stress the fact that it is very bad practice to throw everything together on 1 partition. You should always keep your data on a partition separate from the OS.

Well I think I've gotten all the drivers installed but I'm probably going to continue screwing around with it to make sure everything is working properly. Thanks for your helps guys. If you've got any more tips or things I should be aware of though please feel free to post.
