Everything looks great so far. CPU got rated a 4.6 but i head everyones is pretty low at the start. Now, I got tons of bloatware. Would everything be safe if I did a clean install? Can i just put in the disk and reboot?

I found uninstalling the bloatware didn't fix that wrong CPU score. However, a clean install does.

If you want a really clean install. Use the Recovery DVD, and restart the computer when it asks you for the Support DVD. That will prevent it from installing any bloatware (and drivers too unfortunately). However, it will be a full Vista install with no problems. Just use the support dvd to install all your drivers.

I think I will do a clean install, will the support dvd have everything I need after the install?

yea, after you recover with the DVD, do as everyone says, don't give it the driver cd, just power it down. Then boot up, insert the driver cd, run the autoplay exe and install everything you want. It's got a nice GUI to assist in choosing.

Yeap, another way is to decline to install the drivers during the restore but you can only decline to install a few programs(mainly Norton).

Your cpu rating is 4.6 because you have your battery below 90% and your charger is connected. Disconnect the charger and renew the score to get 5.1.

I get a 4.8 score with the RAM being the lowest at 2 gigs. All the other scores are between 5.9 and 5.2. I haven't disabled many start up programs either. I removed only a bit of bloatware and left aero running because I haven't seen a problem with it.
No need to re-install the OS to increase your score, since mine was 4.4 before I removed about 5 programs. Data Security manager was the biggest ram hog - , Splendid, Instafun, Multiframe, and got rid of Norton. I turned off Direct Console features and disabled it at start up, too.
Hope this helps. Always defrag your system,, I use Auslogics . Hope this helps. Robin
