Hey, Just got my new laptop. ASUS g50vt-x6 from newegg. I am so excited. I am new to asus and was wondering if anyone had any advice on which drivers I would need to update to get the best performance from my new Toy. I am so excited and don't want to blunder around blind, so thought I would ask people who know what works best. I did already update Windows Vista; it is 64-bit. That is also new for me so any advice at all is greatly appreciated.

    Congrats on your new purchase!

One thing you can do to get better graphics performance is to install another graphics driver from laptopvideo2go. Try installing a newer version and see if it helps with your in-game performance.

I would also recommend you uninstall some of the unnecessary Asus-bundled software such as Norton, Chkmail, and Asus/live update.

You could also have a look at my Vista optimization guide (a bit old now, but much of the advice still applies).

Thanks, had already started on the deletions and will look at the vista optimization now. Any other ideas?

That's pretty much it! Just remember properly maintain your notebook on a regular basis (eg. defrag your hard drive, clean out your cache and unnecessary files from your registry, unclog the dirt/dust build-up in your fan and heatsink, etc)
