This laptop is awesome! Waaaaaaaaay better than the laptop I previously had. Its like the feeling you get when you first move from 56k to broadband(No offense to 56kers). Although this is just my initial reaction, I must say I'm very happy so far.
Issues that I was worried about at my pre-buying stage
1. People say it got warm around the palms
2 Like leakage (red ghost effect?)
For me, it was just warm, not hot like my old laptop. I've just been through playing WOW, and it didn't even affect my left palm in anyway. Still don't know what that red ghost effect is. I've been trying to look for anything red since I got the lappy, but still can't find anything. Thank you ISTNC for fast order, and NBR for great help!
Only peeve I got so far is the sound it makes when a cd is spinning in the cd rom drive. It seems like the cd's edge is brushing (it won't let me use the word s-c-r-a-p-ing, guess cuz of the four letters that spell out cr*p) against something, but I'm not too sure on that. It was the same with my old lappy so maybe its a lappy thing? Is that a normal thing? Anybody else getting that sort of noise? Thanks in advance.

Awsome! nice, lappy, technically speakinf all optical drives are loud when spinning...ohwell, just gotta live with it. However some are not loud at all...but i don't know.
Thanks,

Okay, great choice you made there~! You're going to love the machine.
You are not as likely to get a red ghosting LCD now since the problem has been rectified, even if you do you can get it replaced without problems.
The cd-rom drive spinning like a maniac is something you can't do anything about since it's spinning so fast, BUT, yes certain discs do sound like they are brushing against something, but I haven't seen any problems from that yet.
A thing that a lot of people do not know about cd-rom drives and their spinning speeds is that ever since cd-rom drives started getting faster there have been a lot of programs out there to control its spinning speed.
Like Nero's DriveSpeed program that can bootup with windows. Depending on what you're doing you can set the drive speed so it is silent when in operation. The only time you want your drive to be running at full speed is when you are transfering data or copying something from the disc or to the disc. If you are watching dvds or listening to music you don't need to have it at full speed so it sounds like a helicopter taking off.
Try installing nero that probably came with your laptop and check out DriveSpeed. It's a great little program.
Cheers,
Mike
Edit:: Oh yeah, and as for the palm rest heat, it is not bad at all. It only gets fairly warm after gaming for a while. Under regular use with everything in low power mode so your baby runs cooler, it is fine. It only gets as warm as your palms make them. -
Congrats on the new machine!
When you get more comfortable with it, you can try to undervolt the CPU. That will cool things down a bit... -
great machine you bought! i love mine in every way! what specs did you get it with? good luck, and enjoy it!

I got mine a little over two weeks ago. It's really nice. No light leakage or whatever that red ghosting thing was at all. It plays all my favorite games really well too.
I really like mine too. Congrats! -
I tried one but decided it was a bit too noisy for me. So I returned it and upgraded to a V6Va. Now that was a nice change. Much less fan noise. Enjoy the new system though!

Thanks for all the replies. Im definitely installing nero. And for you WOW fanatics out there, the z70va will play WOW at the highest resolution 16xx X 15xx (or something like that) with high settings near 60 fps. Although during peak usage hours and during battlegrounds, it can go as low as 15, which can be remedied by lowering some settings here and there.
As for my specs, I opted for the 1.73 ghz Intel Pentium-M w/ Artic silver 5, 1 gb ram (hopefully upgrading to 2 this coming summer), 80gb HItachi hd, with bluetooth and the A+B+G Intel Wireless card.
Just got my z70va! :D
