First I wanna say thanks to royrules22 who made this review http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=64960&highlight=W3J ... In his thread there was a link to geared2play.com

I've been looking for a laptop for some time now. I didn't want anything bigger than a 15" laptop. Had a 17" Alienware m7700 and it was just too big. I had my sights set on a Alienware m5550. It had everything I was looking for. Smaller than 17", fast, dedicated video card. I wanted something I could game on while away from my desktop. m5550 was perfect, but reviews said it had a very poor battery life (1.5 hrs) ... along with random shut down issues.

So I kept looking. Was then gonna get the new Acer Ferrari, similar specs w/ similar performace execpt the Acer came with a 9 cell battery (3.5 hrs). The new Acer Ferrari 5000 is suppose to come out in two weeks or so. Impatient as I am, kept looking ... then I stumbled on to that thread and eventually pointed me to geared2play. Well saw I could configure it with Core 2 Duo and jumped on it!!! I think I finally found the laptop I would be happy with.

So this is what I got :) :)

    ASUS W3J
    Core 2 Duo 2.16GHz
    14" WXGA (1280x768)
2GB Corsair XMS PC 5300 (ordering from Newegg)
    100GB Hitachi 7200RPM SATA
    ATI Mobility x1600
    8X DVD+/-RW
    XP Professional
8 cell w/ Optical Bay Battery

    hehe ... w/o RAM + shipping $2,243 :) :)

Which is right on with getting the AW m5550 or the Acer Ferrari w/ the planned upgrades. For the AW I was gonna up grade the RAM and the Acer upgrade the HD. But the big thing 8 cell + optical bay battery over the AW's 6 cell, and Core 2 Duo over the Acer's Turion X2 ... and it's 14" (more portable!).

I did read a review that it's formatted with 3 FAT32 partions, and lots of software ... so reformat when I get it.
