After no less than 3 HP DV2000Ts, I decided that it was time to look for something better. After being stuck between the A8JP and the F3JP for a couple of weeks, I finally pulled the trigger on a new F3JP-AK048C. I really didn't want to order a notebook with Vista pre-installed, but it came down to the higher res screen, correctly placed Fn and Ctrl keys (grrrrr), and 1x1GB instead of 2x512mb of RAM. I preferred the 14" size of the A8, and the resolution of the screen is better than my HP's, but the RAM and keyboard issues were too much of an annoyance to overlook. It doesn't look like there's a F3JP owner's lounge yet, maybe I'll start one of them up once it arrives. :D

I'm guessing he ordered from newegg. I'm about to pull the trigger this week on the same laptop. I've already ordered a gig of memory, and already bought my vx revolution mouse. Now, just need to find a gaming headset for a good price.

I ordered it from PC Super Deals:

    http://www.pcsuperdeals.com/ProductView.asp?ProductID=24034242-7fd2-4a89-80b3-b00fe7c69c0d&Refer=29#

I might have inadvertantly ordered 2 of them, I'll post up here if I have an extra one to sell.

EDIT: I forgot to mention, after purchasing my F3, I found it for a little cheaper on another site. I can't vouch for their reputation though: http://www.ewiz.com/detail.php?name=NB-AS-F3JP

Congrats on the purchase! The F3 is a pretty decent system... not a super high quality Asus monster, but it's a great performer especially for the price. I'm sure you'll love it!

Hey AururaS have you any idea what Asus plans to do with the W3 series? Are they going to do a refresh at some point?

cool, maybe there will be enough people to form an F3J owners lounge.

I think the F3J's are underappreciated - I have no idea why. I love mine.

As far as I know, stick a fork in the W3 - it's done. Pick up any remaining W3Jp while you can if you don't already have one... but I don't think they're going to refresh it anymore; the chassis is quite aged now... it's been around for a while. Look towards the V2 if you want a high quality 14" machine..

I myself am a proud owner of an ASUS F3Ja, i bought it near Christmas, when i checked the site the other day, i found out it had come down in price by £50 which i wasnt too pleased about, but i got a good system. i am very happy with what i got though, to those who are getting one, i can get 4 hours out of my battery, 5 if i turn the brightness down, so you should get the same because all come with the 9-cell battery i think.

The F3JP I got from newegg (which I love) only came with a 6-cell battery. I keep brightness around 75% when on battery, but I only see about a 2-2:30 hour battery life at most. I need to look into undervolting to see how it performs; I imagine I can squeeze another 30-45 minutes out of it after doing that.

Compared to my tiny tweaked out (6 cell battery, undervolted by about 50%)fujitsu p7010d with an 8 hour battery life, it's not so hot... but it blows it outta the water in terms of power and performance.

Besides, the screen on the F3jp is just AWESOME. It was reason enough to get one :)

I see you have 2 gigs of RAM in your system. How was it upgrading on the F3J, is it just an empty slot behind one of the doors on the bottom?
