Just took out my Hard Disk from my 3 year old Asus that was no longer in use because I had fried my motherboard with some spilled water.

I recently took apart my new p7805u and saw that there is a space for another HDD, but unfortunately I see that the pins to connect to the motherboard are different from the ones on my Asus HDD.

Please share any ways I can put my old HDD to use, I would definetly like to salvage all that data on that drive that was left there long ago and possibly gain some more storage space as well.

Buy a empty HD closure from ebay/dealextreme and use it as an external HD.

    Ebay // dealextreme

Nice will this one ebay work with the stock HDD on the A4000? If it does I'll get it right away

Just check your drive against these two, if you got a SATA drive, get a SATA enclosure, IDE drive, IDE enclosure.

I just tried the HDD external box and the hard drive fits with the pins except for 4 pins that remain untouched. The pins haven't gone in all the way, they fit in the holes but
i haven't pushed hard to try and force them in. I hook it up to my laptop and it says device is not initialized. Something missing?
