    Hello all,

I just bought this computer and the subwoofer doesn't seem to be working. How can I tell if it is working? There doesn't seem to be any sound coming from it.

Also, when I clicked in the bottom-right most corner of the trackpad, it seem to depress more deeply than I would imagine. There also seems to be a "bump" in the middle of the trackpad.

I really stretched my budget to purchase this computer and I am very frustrated with these issues. I can't believe the subwoofer isn't working, am I doing something wrong? Is there supposed to be a "bump" in the middle of the trackpad?

    Thank in advance.

I also just noticed that I have the speaker crackling problem too. This is really unfortunate and I don't know what to do. Will returning it even help? What if I get a new one with the same issues?

Well, I returned it. They tried to have me exchange it, but I don't have the patience to deal with this ****. I bet it would have had the same flaws anyway. I am really disappointed in Asus right now. I am fully aware that I sound like the typical indignant , but that's how I feel. DO SOME QUALITY CHECKS FOR CHRIS'SAKES!

From what I've read A LOT of people are very satisfied with the N56, you were probably just unlucky. I would have suggested another try at the N56 (exchanging) , but it looks like you've already decided against it.

I am guessing mine was one of the first shipments. I hear that the new shipments are not having these problems as much. I still may purchase it because I don't know of any comparable alternatives! This is a beautiful comp that I was happy to pay ~1000.00 for, as long as it worked fine and didn't have any flaws.

    I don't like the Y580....
    I don't like HP....

I am kind of stuck here.

I agree with you I don't like the look of the Y580, its too bulky, and I've never been a fan of HP either. If you budget is 1000 dollars your definitely stuck, I don't see any laptops with as much power and sleekness as the n56.

Uhm, to be honest this NB looks pretty awful imo. Beside that there is a lot of plastic.

Pretty sure, Sager never heard something of modern designs. But everyone to his taste...

Do you mean the external subwoofer? Try with some car racing games. If you can't hear anything, call Asus to replace the subwoofer.
