    Hello

My parents purchased an Asus laptop, X52J series. I visited Asus' website to get info about it, but I can't find the x-series at all there
However, the K-series looks very similar?

I have also tried to sort out the differences between the K and A-series. But, I can't find any difference except from the palm-rest pattern? Am I missing something? Is there a difference in build quality between K and A?

    Thanks
    Kind regards

Xxx series is European version of the Kxx series, I believe.

K is Asus' bottom budget line, A should be their next up (but still budget). Only real difference is going to be components, as the plastics etc in these are similar.

    Thanks for the info.

I don't play games. However, I do photo-editing in Photoshop, sometimes with 30MB RAW files. I wonder which model you recommend? The N-series looks fine except battery life and keyboard. The U53 is too expensive. I think K/A is fine for me, but I am annoyed about the lack of USB 3.0.

    Kind regards

If you're looking for something that'll handle photediting the G series could do it - they are gaming machines, with top end components.

Allan, thanks for the advice but the G and N-series look like desktop replacements....and I have a desktop PC already. I am looking for something with a decent battery life (5-8 hours) and it has to be light (max. 2.5kg).

I tried the Asus u45 today. Editing RAW files was lightening fast. ...which means that i5 450m + NVIDIA GeForce G 310M is more than enough. In fact, I think I can manage fine with an i3.

So, I have narrowed it down to u35, u45 or K/A 52. Decisions, decisions......

    Kind regards

I would go for the U series without a heartbeat, in the end they do offer the battery life that you want + the size and weight that is needed.

However I would take a look at the ultra thin and light Acer timeline X series, the 3820tg and the 4820tg might be the laptop of your dreams, and the battery life is much better than the U series
