    Just a FYI..

After reading a review on the Asus K42F, I saw mention of a future model 14" model having discrete graphics, but didn't give any real details.. Did a little searching and I've already found some retailers listing the new

man im loving it, just wish there was an option for a 540m or at least the 520m :(

here a link to a review of the asus k42f which is the same series, down a bit theres a table with specs: http://www.legitreviews.com/article/1169/4/

anyway in terms of raw processing power, do you guys think the i5-430m still outclasses the C2D T9600 (2.8ghz) in the asus n81vp-d2?
i know this one only goes up to 2.53ghz with turbo boost but i still think it should be just about on par with the T9600, if anything the core 2 duo might beat the i5 by a few seconds here and there..

same for the graphics cards, 4670 vs 5470... the 46 prolly wins by a good bit on that front but im not too worried since i dont mind my games on med settings..

so basically my question is K42JR-A1 vs N81VP-D2?

    penny for your thoughts?

c2d wont beat the i3/i5/i7 due to HTT.
on a bench mark i saw, forgot the site, they had the i5 beating c2d by 40%, both cpu were clocked at 2.2ghz.

yes they had a similar benchmark on the site i linked to, however i'm asking more directly an i5 2.26ghz vs a c2d 2.8ghz... like i said, im sure the i5 would still be better in general but im thinking the c2d might be a tad speedier just bc of its frequency.

either way, im hoping the i5 will be easy to overclock hehe

I don't think the keys are backlit are they, that might really turn me off. I don't think their will be a difference between 4670 and the 5470.

For games wouldn't you be more concerned with the GPU? The X83VP-A1, though it has a Core 2 Duo processor, has a better graphics card than the new K42JR-A1. The ATI 4670 in the former has a lot better benchmark scores than the ATI 5470 in the latter. So wouldn't the X83 model technically have better performance for gaming? Correct me if I'm wrong!
