K53 Colors?

The press releases when the K53 came out listed available colors as: white, bronze, red, pink, blue, green and yellow. All the K53s I am finding are either labeled "mocha" or "dark brown". The mochas are most common and look very dark, but I have seen photos, like these

in which the palmrest does indeed look bronze rather than mocha. If I buy one online labeled "dark brown" will I get this lighter color, or are they all very dark like the mocha? Does the A1/B1 designation have anything to do with color?

Also, why don't many of the authorized resellers have any of the other colors? The only units in the other colors seem to only be sold by unauthorized resellers or resellers with a poor rating at Reseller Ratings.

 

There is a blue one I've seen, it's been available online. The model is K53E-XR1-BU

I haven't seen it, but there is a red one apparently too: K53E-XR1-RD

 

Yes, I found a blue one at ABT, but they do not have very good feedback at Reseller Ratings, so I've given up on that one. All the high rated resellers only have it in mocha or dark brown, so I'm trying to find out if there is a difference in those two colors. Like, is dark brown a lighter color than mocha or are they the same color?

 

I think they actually discontinued those models so it may be harder to find them.

Oh, do you mean they've discontinued all the colors except the brown ones? Or that they've discontinued the K53E altogether?

 

The two models I listed earlier seem to be discontinued, not the entire K53E.

 

Thanks for your help. Guess I'll have to settle for a brown one if I decide to go that route. I think it's weird that they made such a big deal about the colors when they first came out, and now you can't get them.

 

I completely agree. They made a big deal about the colors and then dropped the ball.

Some of the colors seem to be available in Asia and eastern European markets.

Still, it's a good machine for the price, but I haven't seen the screen in person. That's usually the drawback of the K series.
