    K53E 1080P screen upgrade

    Hello,

    I would like to upgrade the screen of my K53E-BBR5 to a 1080P screen. I'm pretty sure this screen is compatible:

    However, I was wondering if the cable that connects the screen to the motherboard has the extra wires to make it work? I'd really prefer to only take the laptop apart once to do the actual swap, so if anyone knows the answer (and any other information to make sure I can get this working the first time), I'd really appreciate it.

    Any updates on this?

    I'm considering the machine, but the default screen resolution is quite poor.

    I would think so long as the pinout is standard on the connector (appears to be a single connector to the system board) and the screen physically fits the bezel, it should work..

    It depends if the LVDS cable will support dual link and has the correct connector type/pinout for the higher res screen. You need to compare the specsheet for your original screen to the one you want.

    K53E LVDS cable does not support dual link. you can find a dual link cable then you will have to give up the webcam because the K53E's LVDS cable is connected to webcam as well.

    I didn't realize the resolution provided by the OP's screen would even require a dual link connection. I have a dell 30" lcd that supports 2560x1600 resolution which indeed calls for a dual link cable. From my research a resolution of 1920x1080 should not require dual link.

    External monitors operate differently than internal notebook screens.

    saturnotaku is correct, in LVDS terms anything above 1366 x 768 requires Channel A and Channel B to be connected.
