My Asus K53E's CPU is blazing. I was gaming for about 15 minutes when I noticed that the upper left side of the keyboard was getting pretty hot as it normally would when the CPU is running at 100%, so I thought all was good. But after another 5-10 minutes I noticed that the fan didn't seem to be jumping up to its max speed to cool it off. I stopped gaming to check to see what the CPU temp was at, and CoreTemp said it was at about 93-95C (it idles at 55-57C). I updated the bios to the latest version the Asus website had for the K53E and the fan still seems to be staying at its normal speed state. The K53E motherboard does not support Q-Fan and the bios has no other fan settings. I'm not sure why the fan has decided to not cool the CPU when it gets hot all of a sudden, I haven't changed or installed anything that would cause that. I ordered some new thermal compound to get the Idle temps down some but that does not help the fan. Suggestions would be appreciated, thanks.

When you repaste, be sure to check the heat sink for anything that may be clogging it, as well as the heat pipe for any apparent damage.

Have you tried SpeedFan? It's a long shot since Q-Fan didn't work for you, but worth a shot.

Yes, I have tried SpeedFan and another program that was suppose to do the same. I suspect that the motherboard doesn't support fan scaling from software, but I know for a fact that the fan will increase with heat as it has up until a couple of days ago.

I took apart the fan complete (instead of the minimal amount needed for cleaning) and found some crud. I removed it and when I turned on my machine I found a good bit more air flowing out of the out-take. Seems that junk was slowing my fan down quite a bit. My temps have dropped to an idle of 43-47C and 100% load
70-75C, and all of that is without reapplying the thermal grease.

I you routinely blow out the dust (put it to sleep, used canned air to blow in the exhaust port) every month, you usually won't get too much build up. If you wait too long between doing it the dust will build up and be nearly impossible to blow out. Good catch!
