Just got my K53TA the other day although I discovered an odd problem. I did a clean install of win 7 64 hp. I unplugged the laptop and used it for a bit then plugged it back in. Came back and it wasn't charging. Try unplugging and plugging it back again to no avail. A reboot doesn't fix it. I have to take the battery out and start the laptop with only the charger plugged in. Then I can put the battery in and it will charge. Any ideas?

    thanks,

    Travis

When you hover over the battery icon on the taskbar, what does it say?

It just shows the remaining percentage of power. It doesn't show the little plug in.

It shows the plug in with I do a fresh start with just the power plug. Then when I unplug it it comes up saying I unplugged it and goes to the remaining power.

I did save an image of it before I reinstalled so when I can get home I'll put that back on there and see if it does the same thing. But I'm thinking it's a return....

Just put the original image back on and it didn't change anything. Then I had it so it wasn't charging then rebooted. Went into the bios and with the power plugged in and pulled the battery. The laptop shut off. I'm now positive something is wrong with the laptop.

Maybe you have a bad AC adapter, or it could be a hardware issue.

Yeah I don't have another charger to try. Think I'll just try and exchange it.
