I am in a desperate situation and decided to sell my GT680R and my Asus G74s and I decided to pickup a K53TA because of the unbelieable performance for the price. I was lucky enough to find an open box and ended up paying $330 for this laptop. I am having some trouble with it, I installed all the drivers and I am crashing like crazy, i slowly start artifacting even without gaming. Seems to be a catalyst driver issue or something. What drivers do you guys recommend and where should i get them from? links would be great!

If the Asus driver cause artifacts and crashing then it's most likely your video card or the VRAM is defective.

You might want to test your laptop in Windows Safe mode and if it still having same issues then you should return your laptop to Asus for repair.

That might have been why it was an open box item in the first place. Someone bought it new, overclocked the you-know-what out of it, destroyed the video card, then returned it to BB claiming "It's defective." You could try returning it to BB or Asus, but I wouldn't be surprised if neither accepts it as they could very well claim that the problem was user generated.
