Hey guys how's the laptop treating you so far? :) I just bought mine 2 weeks ago and I've read all of your comments. It's great that bios update is out but sadly there is still grainy issues... and it's noticeable enough at times to bother me.
Has anyone heard anything back from asus about a bios update

A few things to add about this issue...
1)When I connect my laptop to my 23" monitor through HDMI I still can see the grainy issues. So just like you guys have said... we need another bios update.

2)ALSO, you know how a game looks when you have the wrong resolution? pixelated lines and etc... Well.. some games I play look like that even though the resolution is right on spot (1366X768) and I have even tried other res but it still looks as if the res if completely off... such as on DotA 2 or Portal 2. Note: This problem is not found when I play through my 23" monitor !

    3) During movies or game cut scenes... The image may show a cut line running across horizontally which moves upward. This one might just be because of the graphics card.

    Is this familiar with anyone?

Additional question: Would it be possible to buy a higher res screen to replace with this one? (like 1600x900) I make desktop computers but I am really not familiar with laptops or laptop screens so any info would be appreciated.

    :)

^^ the cut lines = tearing.

has to do with vsync. Some video players do a better job eliminating tearing.
VLC player has this problem. Media player classic does a better job.

pixelation can still occur in games with full resolution. that's aliasing.
you need to turn on antialiasing.

the grainy issues through hdmi should be minimal. On my monitor, if i look hard enough, I can see temporal dithering (rapidly moving graininess) on some colors. But that is acceptable because of the limitations of the screen. It's a 6 bit panel, so it has to dither to display more colors.

Right now, I'm not too bothered by the grain on the laptop screen. If you go to the store and look at other laptops, the color is still not smooth.
instead of grain, they have a grid pattern, kind of like this-

    Hey there

ahh so I should go with the windows classic K-Lite codec pack. Thanks for responding to my questions I appreciate that!
    +rep :)

And about the graininess .. it seems to be the most showy on images with dark colors... especially when the image is merging into another color.. Many of my games' start panel are like that and so it is really visible.. during the game itself is not bad i guess. I still wish they would be working on a bios update right now for this issue.. would it be difficult for Asus? and do you think they will ever do it?

Also, I have safely overclocked my cpu to 2.3(with undervolt) but do you think overclocking this gpu would increase game visuals and performance? And if so which program do you recommend?
And I mentioned before, would it be possible to buy a higher res(like 1600x900) and better quality screen to replace with this one?

    Thanks link626 :)

sorry for my bad english but you wont get enough performance from overclocking because those gpu are generally memory bottlenecked you must have more memory performance to get full of its gpu performance dont try to overclock memory because memory chips are too fragile
