Yup... I updated to 12.4
I guess its a known issue... back to 12.1 for me
-
-
It's fine to try up to 12.3 also if you need any specific performance tweaks for newest games. (but I'm using 12.1 and fine with it as long as I'm willing to put up with the hangs on shutdown switching back & forth between fixed-dynamic modes.)
-
Actually i tried to install 12.1 and it still shows 12.4 - I then went to the settings and made it only use 1 gpu at a time and that fixed it. I figure the game was not set up for running multiple cards and setting it to only 1 fixed the issue. Before I guess it was using the gpu from the A6 (playable but pretty bad).

Anyone know how to get rid of the watermark in the top right of the screen when using dual graphics? Example

EDIT.
Also, about the RT usb not working. I tried re-installing all the drivers again. The thing still won't work. When I was in BIOS looking for some options that could have been disabled I noticed my thumb drive was being recognized by bios just fine, not in Windows though -
Hmm thats weird.. the only time i saw a watermark i was using a recording program demo... did you google that problem a bit?
-
Does that solve it? -
Ya apparently 12.4 was giving me some real issues at times. It was liking to bump my fan down to whatever it wanted instead of the 100% that i placed it at and some other things... i switched back to 12.1 and everything seems to be working just fine again.

Been having some issues with my K53TA for the past couple of weeks, I'll randomly get pseudo-lockups for anywhere from .5 to 3+ minutes where programs will be unresponsive, but I can still activate the Start Menu or Alt-Tab between programs, Spam Num Lock to verify system isn't completely locked up, Ctrl-Shift-Esc to bring up Task Manager, etc - and after its done with its "freeze" it rapidly executes all the things I instructed during the freeze.
I've tried 2 fresh Win 7 installs, and I'm relatively confident its not a driver issue. Hard drive light is solid the whole time of the freeze, maybe my OCZ SSD is acting up? Or a hiccup using optical drive caddy for 2nd HD? I dunno, I'm at a bit of a loss, wondering if anyone else has experienced this or might have some insight into what might be the cause.
I'm at stock with everything at this point (no OC, no modded BIOS) and still running into the same issue - time to hit up ASUS tech support? -
^ probably ssd issue. do you have a sandforce ssd, or a cheaper one ? My impression is that ocz drives suck. Have you tried checking for bad sectors with some diag tool ?
you would have to unplug the ssd and use the stock hdd for a while to determine if the problem is stock hardware.
asus tech support is useless enough. they wouldn't help you on your modified laptop. -
Thanks for the feedback, I'll give swapping out the SSD a shot and see if the problem presents itself again with a standard drive. -
you should also do some routine checks-
event viewer to see if windows threw any codes.
ram test. -

EDIT:
Looks to be driver related after all, haven't had any issues since I switched my SATA driver to the default Windows provided one instead of the AMD-specific chipset driver. Just a heads up in case anyone else experiences similar issues. What's up with AMD's drivers lately? -
Well unless they get a good fix we are stuck on 12.1 :/
sadly i get a slight glitch with 12.1 but it's not that bad and only shows up sometimes -

Does anyone know how to disable the Elantech touchpad waking the computer from sleep? There is a power management option under device manager for my usb mouse, but not the touchpad which always wakes the laptop from sleep. Even when I close the lid, it still detects some movement and wakes up

Pesky customers interrupting my posts! See below for response

Asus chipset version is equal to AMD Mobility Radeon 11.11 drivers if I remember right - the chipset drivers are a separate installer (just usually shares the same version number with the catalyst releases) but there may be some overlap. I would just disable installing anything other than the Chipset, ACHI, and USB 3.0 drivers and see if that does the trick at all.
Or, alternatively, give this 12.1 chipset driver a shot:
Previous AMD Catalyst Display Drivers
Good luck, let us know your results! (Remember when you could just install the latest driver version and 9 times out of 10 it was the one that worked the best? I miss those days...) -
Here's a little how-to if you want to add a 2nd hhd to your lappy.
1- Remove hhd cover
2- Pull hhd out of there
3- Remove ram cover
[/IMG]
4- Remove DVD retaining screw
5- Remove DVD
6- Insert old hhd in your brand new caddy from ebay! It's the 12.7mm model.
7- Insert the caddy into dvd bay and screw it. Put back your RAM cover and screw it.
8- Insert brand new ssd in your original hhd bay. Install back your hhd cover. screw it.
If you wanna update your ssd firmware, you have to put your ssd in 2nd drive. That mean you have to put your ssd in caddy, turn on lappy, flash your ssd, turn off lappy and follow the how-to.
That's it that's all! It takes 5mins to do and it worth it! -
Hi,
I searched around a bit and couldn't find anything specific about the issue I'm experiencing, so I figured it was worth a shot to ask here. I just installed a new SSD, a Crucial M4 128GB with a fresh install of Windows 7. Everything seems to be running beautifully, except for the fact that I cannot overclock consistently with K10 Stat anymore.
Using the exact same profiles as I was with my installation on the stock hard drive, there appears to be some sort of weird throttling going on that I can't pin down. Temps are in the 40's C, so it shouldn't be a thermal issue. Sometimes CPUZ will identify the overclock at 2000, but if I close and reopen CPUZ, or open a game like Skyrim, I see what you'll see in the attached images.
Any insight at all would be appreciated, thanks! -
Try hwinfo, cpu-z sometimes act weird and report wrong bus speed.

Thank you very much for the links and help! Baiii was right, just an issue with CPU-Z, apparently, HWInfo is reading the OC at the appropriate bus and multiplier.

1. not sure why install 32bit, although it wont kill the performance but will limit the ram you can use.
2.download the driver in ASUS site(just google k53ta driver and it pop right up) and use a USB stick/external HDD. DVD drive shouldn't need driver to use. There is no way to get the driver to your new machine if you don't have anyway to connect it to external data. -
now i have installed ethernet modems and installed drivers but the dvd problem remains, plz help me any1,aer strike 1.6 steam on it,does steam doesn'tlso i m nt able to run counterstrike steam version on it it just hangs, any solution guys

Plz Help Me Out My Dvd Ram Is Not Working, any Solutions,u Ever Experienced Such Issues, when I Put A Cd,there Is An That Cd Rotating Sign, also With An Green Blink Near Dvd,but Then No Media Is Foundout,
-
I think your period key is broken too.
I would try going to the drivers page and reinstalling the DVD drivers.
So I found an issue with 12.4 --- When I fire up a game for the first time, the DGPU works just fine. When I then shut down the game and come back after some time, the DGPU does not re-activate for the game and I get stuck on the integrated graphics. I restart my computer and then repeat the process. Is this a known issue for anyone? The game is Heroes of Newerth.
----
Sidenote: Is that undervolt profile any good? I changed some of my kstat around to match that profile and it seems very stable. -
if it's a burned cd, burnt to a cheap crappy cd-r, the data on it may be corrupted.
put the cd in another computer and see if it can be read.
if so, another reason to report it below. -
Yup, it happens every time. I will report it on the link, thanks.
-
-
ok, so maybe your drive is broken. -
-
I also found out that it also happens when I put the computer to sleep and then wake it. -
MSI beta has expired and heard that the final does not allow for the overclocking that we do. Anyway around this>

Someone played Diablo 3 on this laptop? I want to buy the game but i am not sure if i'll be able to play the game at a decent graphic detail. I will be playing at laptops native resolution 1366x768.
Also.. another question : I already have 4GB RAM in 1 stick. If i buy another stick of RAM (4GB same manufacturer etc.) will i get a significant boost?
Thank you -
-
I have 8gb ram atm but i don't know the difference with and without the extra ram. -
On a related note, does having a faster harddrive (7200 rpm / ssd) improve gaming performance? would it drop temperature?
-
Diablo 3
Max settings, no anti filtering, no vert synch, 1080 resolution, 35-42 FPS running older version of ATI Catalyst from ASUS Website Version V8.901.0.0000
Still playing with the K10Stat for this game, looking at 2.8 boost and 2.3 P0, not looking to exceed 80C
Haven't messed with bios dedicated chip settings or OC the video card.
Let me know your experience, as I'm looking to play D3 for a while.
Thanks,
- Steve -
Unfortunately
I got only 35-40FPS (Low Settings on Video Options) on my notebook with the A6, 8GB RAM and HD7670 + (I forgot the other one).
Do I need to configure anything on AMD VISION Engine Control Center?
ps: I was using on Maximum Performance on battery settings.
Thank you in advance -
Sounds like you may have something not working correctly... Even without overclocking, you should be able to run medium settings fairly well.
-
my bro is doing fine with high everything, low or no shadow(no sure about shadow) 768p we were duoing
-
When I was playing Diablo 3 like I said I had usually 50 or more but I was playing in the beta so it could have been different. Also It would go in the 40's in heavy duty areas.
Info:
GPU- 6650M (not sure if overclocked)
CPU- 2.0ghz @ 1.0v with 2.2ghz boost
Ram- 8gb
HDD- 7200rpm
Display Driver: Catalyst 12.1 or 12.3
Bios: 212
Battery mode: High Performance
Temp- 60-70C (can't remember)
I would re-test but my gpu needs fixing and I don't own the game
K53TA.. The best deal ever... could be!
