This is really annoying and has been going on for ages. Whenever I get the BSOD or I sleep and my laptop decides not to sleep but to turn off (pretty much everytime) or sometimes whenever I turn it on, I get this annoying black screen with a flashing a - in the top left hand corner which won't go off. It forces me to keep my finger on the power button untill it switches off and then I have to switch it back on again, only to see the same thing happen.

It takes me about 5 or 6 times doing this untill it finally comes on properly and whenever I restart it or something, I have to do the same thing over again.

I am running Windows 7 and I have had this problem before, I did a clean install because I thought it was the OS's problem but it wasn't. Its really annoying having to keep doing this.

What can I do to stop it?

    Thanks.

That usually is the video card initializing but there are several other drivers at that stage getting initialized as well. You can try other video drivers but to eliminate it remove the drivers yu have and just force VGA. reboot several times and se if the issue persists.
