I have an Asus VivoBook S500CA Laptop and the original motherboard died. Upon opening the machine, I found out that the motherboard is an S400CA Rev 2.1 Motherboard, so I ordered one on eBay. Got it put into the machine & everything works except the keyboard. All the keys are mixed up. The letter 'A' produces a ','... The number 6 is the up arrow.. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to the mapping.
My only guess is that this motherboard is used in multiple models/variants, with different keyboards potentially so the keyboard mapping may be stored in the BIOS. I downloaded the BIOS for the S500CA & tried to flash using the Easy Flash utility in the BIOS, but it won't let me because the 'models names do not match'.
This Mobo came with the S400CA BIOS. Is there any way to force a BIOS flash. Maybe using some sort of DOS utility? Not sure exactly how or if that works with a UEFI BIOS.
Alternatively, I do have access to a BIOS programmer & soldering rework station, but I don't know if I trust my soldering skills enough to swap out that tiny BIOS chip.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

See if you can use either of these tools:

Okay, I'll try that tomorrow & see how it goes.
The mapping does seem to be at the hardware level though, as it's affected even in the BIOS. -
I have same problem (on different laptop make/model though).
Thank you in advance for your help! -
I ended up returning the motherboard & ordering one with an S500CA BIOS. That worked, so I can only assume the BIOS versions make a difference for the keyboard mapping.
