Hi, I have a G1S-X1 that I've had for about a year now. Its a fantastic computer. However, just recently, as in a couple of days ago, for no apparent reason my keyboard suddenly got rather strange. Its nothing serious, only apparent when I'm playing games. It seems that the keys, "A W E F" have changed. Strafing is now difficult and only works occasionaly as pressing W then A would not allow me to strafe. But the odd thing is that When I pressed W + A it would trigger a weapon switch "Q in most steam games". When I changed WASD to ESDF I found that I couldn't strafe right because a combination of E + F would stop me and cause me to switch my weapon.
However If i pressed A without pressing W then I'd mode left. Its only when used together that it stops working.
Can anyone help me out? Is this a hardware issue or software?
EDIT: I forgot to mention that this also occurs in Notepad. If I hold W and press A sometimes A wont show up.

check if it happens in expressgate. if yes, try updating to bios 209 (if you havent already) and reload manufacturer defaults. if it still happens, you might have to RMA it.
if no, then it's a vista issue. since i dont use vista, i can only suggest uninstalling any other keyboard layouts besides us or us_ca (or whatever it's called). -
Errr. I dont understand most of that except for uninstalling keyboard layouts. lol

avian, Expressgate is like an operating system that you can load before loading windows. Quote:
Good luck. -
ah ok, thanks, gonna try it out

Well, I've been unable to download express gate as I was unable to find it. Nor was I able to find a tutorial on it. But anyways, I've fiddled around with the keyboard some more and I've found out that that it's not only W+A and E+F
but its also Z+A and X+F. Thus making a little circle on the left hand side of my keyboard.
Also, there are no problems with I use a USB keyboard. -
ah, for some reason i read that as g50. g1's don't have expressgate. get the newest bios (300) from the asus site, see if it still happens.
if it still happens, download a DOS disk ( http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...7-b7e5-4b31-badb-ddaac771295f&displaylang=en), boot into it, and try typing.
if it doesn't happen in DOS, then its a vista issue. -
Hmm, im not sure how to boot into DOS with that. I tried installing it into a Flash Drive but it wouldn't boot from that.
I did install the newest Bios though and it still doesnt work. -
Im really starting to think its a hardware problem, should i buy a new keyboard for my laptop?

do you have an external usb floppy at hand? if yes, then use that. if no, then you may have to get a *nix live distro. something like http://smalllinux.org/download.html should do, since its only to test keys.
