I'm thinking about gettin the 2.0ghz Merom which includes 4MB of L2 cache rather than 2MB. How much of a performance gain would that translate into on the s96j? Or it is not worth the extra wait? (I'd be going several weeks into college without a laptop).

About 10-20% depending on what your gonna do the most with your laptop.

More CPU Cache does tend to help overall though.

    :)

If your gonna do email, internet, word, pics, and most games, it wont make a difference, but if you wanna future proof it some, and are planning on doing video, or video encoding, then it would be a good idea.

well with conroe going from 2mb to 4mb gives about a 10% performance increase, depending what you are doing.
