I am in urgent. My Asus L8400C becomes too hot though the CPU fan is still running. It could stop at anytime. I think the CPU fan has problem, because it is so noisy and and running with slow speed.

I intend to change the fan, but I dont know where to buy. If you guys know any online shop, please help me.

The service of Asus is not so good, so I think I cannot depend on it.

    Best regards

    H

The best idea would be to see what make and model the fan is in your notebook, then do a serach for a replacement. The L8 is a few years old now, so I doubt many on the forum would no much about it. Also you should still give ASUS a try, as they would be the obvious choice/place to get a replacement from.
Good luck & sorry I couldn't be of more help

    :)

p.s. you may also want to try applying some good quality thermal grease like artic silver to your CPU, this will help alot to improve thermal disapation.

Did you manage to open the case? I noticed it's very similar to my L3400. I've a similar fan problem (very noisy, and apparently slow), but I couldn't open the case at all. Any clue for my problem?

    Thanks

I had the same problem with my Asus L8. The sound you hear is the fan blades hitting the air ducts that are around it. When it constantly hits the air duct it can't come to speed, and my laptop also went off when getting too hot.

With me the problem was solved by opening the laptop up and removing some of the air duct just around the fan. it doesn't run against the duct anymore now and works perfectly again.

Be careful! I don't take any responsibility for you opening up your laptop and damaging it.

I myself have a A2D with the "fan always on" problem now )-:

Right, but could you give me any hint about how to open the case? Besides the visible screws, there must be somtehing else which prevents me from opening the case... Latches? Where are they!?!?!?
Any clue? My fan is getting noiser and noiser, and I'm starting to fear...

Eh, well, I don't have the laptop here anymore, but tomorrow I could check at the office. Most of what I had to do was click the keyboard out (pins around it), and then the back part can be turned upwards, and below that the fan and cpu are...

Maybe the part where the touchpad is in also has to be lifted for that (I don't remember). That can be done by getting the 2 screws out that are on the downside of the front of the laptop. Then you can slide the part where the touchpad is in a little to the front, and then lift it up....

I'll still check tomorrow or the day after.
