Hey was interested in the g51vx-a1 notebook and screen quality is very important to me (especially having no graininess/sparkles effect), I'm returning my M17x because the screen is terrible. I'm deciding between the new g71gx-a1 with the AUO 2 CCFL and the g51 with the LED backlit screen. Does anyone know the model(s) used in the notebook? Or care to comment on the quality of either screen. Thanks.

    Updated question:

Ok I ordered the g51vx-a1. Can any owners of the a1 who have been to best buy and have seen the best buy version (RX05) and macbook pro's compare the three screens? I went and looked at the RX05 and it seemed pretty underwhelming. It wasn't terrible but seems a bit washed out, pretty much the same as every other pc notebook there, they all seem to have similar display quality. Then I went to look at the macbook pro's and those were stunning compared to the RX05. So is the A1 closer to the Macbook pro's or RX05 in terms of quality?

I can't comment on the G51 screen, but the AUO dual-lamp screen in the G71 is extremely bright with vivid colors and no graniness issues. Contrast is above average compared to standard LCD screens. Some G71 owners have experienced a light "cloudy" patch in the middle of the screen when viewed at a particular angle with a dark background.

I have put my new A1 through it's paces and am very impressed with the screen. Played Crysis and Unreal Tournament 3, watched several movies and photos look amazing. Much improvement in side to side viewing angles. All in all a great LED LCD Panel. No sparkles or grainy appearance that I can detect. I had to turn the brightness down and adjust colors as they were a tad to bright for me.

Owners of G51s with 1080p, be nice and post pics of viewing angles (especially vertical!) :D

Hi I had the G51vx-Rx05 (LED DISPLAY) Best buy model for a day. It was a very poor quality display even after trying to adjust it the picture appeared washed out with poor contrast ratio, however this was the case with many of the bb laptops on display. I am planning on getting this G51vx-A1model however I too need some recommendations on the quality of the screen in this model(ie contrast ratio) Also has the sound quality improved ? Since it was barely audible during gaming. Otherwise the laptop is quite durable and well built I really like how its just a good balance between portability, price and gaming performance. appreciate the help. Ps: some screens plz)

    There's a G51 review (I think it's Harkonnen's) wih a summary of the viewing angles.

Yes well I'm not referring to the viewing angle. White LED's have less color gamut than the RGB LED's which is usually 100%. I was just wondering if it is using white LED or RGB LED which would make the colors so much better.

My laptop is still on the way (A1), but a lot of people have mentioned that the A1 screen is nicer than the BB version, but I can't verify that YET! I don't think you'll be disappointed with the A1!!!

The BB version's resolution is 1366x768 and the A1 is 1920x1080. I also heard the A1 is brighter. But more expensive.

I ordered mine from ZZF. With the cashback and mail in rebate it will end up costing around $1300. I'd pay even more for a great screen.
