Hi, I bought a ASUS U41SV about 4 months ago, and have been happy using it. That is until 1 month ago when it fell from the table and the screen was damaged. Hence, I decided to take the chance to upgrade to a higher resolution screen, from 1366x768 to 1600x900.

I did some research and decided upon the AUO B140RW02. When the LCD came I assembled it and it was a perfect fit. Until I turn on the notebook and was dismayed to find that the colours were off and there are uniform white lines all over the screen. This is a video showing how my screen looks like: failed screen - YouTube

I took it out and reassembled it a few times and the problem still persist. I suspected there is something wrong with the connector and asked around another forum, where one of the members mentioned a "FHD LCD connector".

Does this mean that there are actually different connectors for screens of different resolution?
If so, from where can I get a connector for my LCD? (AUO B140RW02)

I really like this laptop and hope to fix it soon. So, if anybody can help, I'll be greatly indebted. Thank You and have a nice day :)

    PS:
    1. I need the resolution hence my decision to upgrade. Thank You for your concern about my eyesight and the legibility of the screen.
    2. I know by doing this I voided the warranty, Thank You for thinking of reminding me about that.

Yes you probably need a Dual-Link LVDS cable instead of the single link for the 1336x768 screen. That is what they mean by FHD LCD connector.

I am not sure where you find the cable, you might look around on ebay. If you come up with nothing maybe we can look at the specsheet for your original LCD and the new LCD and figure out if a cable with the right pinout exists. If there is a version of your model that came with a full HD screen, it should be possible to find its LVDS cable somewhere.
