Recently my z70va screen died. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to buy a new lcd without paying over $300? I've found plenty of glossy screens, but no matted screens and I really didn't want to make the switchover.
Thanks![]()

You can try ebay. I found 2 new ones for your notebook just searching for "z70va lcd screen" They were both glossy however, but they were both less then $170. If it's an older notebook. You just need to contact asus to find out what screen will fit correctly. If you can find out the exact matt replacement number you may have more luck. Are you certain it's the LCD screen and not just the inverter? An inverter will only run you about $10.

well- i don't know how to tell if it's the inverter. this is what it looks like:
and it looks that way whenever the computer is on- in the bios or safemode- whenever. the information beneath it is still active- like, i can still click on the start button- you just can't see it.
is it worth getting a glossy? i just know that my brother's laptop is a glossy and i absolutely hate it. it's an HP and the glare is just absurd. it's not like i normally take my computer outside or anything, but even just sitting in a room with a window the glare is pretty bad. suggestions?Last edited by a moderator: Feb 6, 2015 -
It's not the inverter. I'm not really experenced enough with LCD issues to know exactly what's causing your issue. I'm pretty sure if it was the inverter you would have no power to the LCD. Call Asus and find out what part number you need for your laptop. Once you have the part number it gives you something to search for on ebay. I looked at the asus estore which does not show a LCD for your laptop. That could mean several things, but usually it means it's a common part between several different laptops. If you really hate the glossy find out what the part number is for the screen you have and see if you can find another one just like it. Does the problem show up when you are in the BIOS screen or is it only in windows? If it's only in windows it could be a driver issue.

nope- it's all the time-- even in bios. i called asus last night and they couldn't tell me- i'll try again today during business hours when they might not be out-sourcing
