Well, I hate when I get to make notices like this that even Asus didn't make us aware of prior to the internet posting.... but this one upsets me even more because I originally read it this morning from an Audi/VW/Lambo site that I've been working with on our PROPortable Project S4........

I believe the spec is higher than in other countries, but still I don't think they're going to actually bring it in with the current Yonah cpu as that would really limit their sales even more so than we already expect...... But this is just a release party basically.... so by time they're ready for sale, it'll be into September and it should arrive with a Merom (Core Duo 2) 64bit cpu.

Interesting article. Thanks for the info.
I am interested in knowing the difference between the GeForce 7400VX Special Edition and the regular GeForce 7400? -
WOW.
...but why would they opt to include the NVIDIA 7400 (even a redesigned one) instead of something with a little more punch?? Other than that, looks awesome. -

The 7400 in the Vx1 is overclocked from the factory..... that's basically it.
I'm not a huge supporter of the Vx1, although we'll probably one of the few who will be selling them. I'm more interested in the second and third models that will be coming out early next year which Lambo has a lot more influence on and will starting from scratch design wise...... But this isn't a bad start..... I think Lambo dealerships are honestly going to get a handful of these to sell to car owners / buyers directly. -
I am going to start to not like ASUS. Now they are using names to sell their laptops. Just like sony kinda does.
You are paying 2800.00 for a laptop that has an advanced 7400. It probably woulden't even match the 7600. Wow, what a rip.
PRO Portable, I am not trying to diss you. Sounds like you work for ASUS or something? Well that's cool. I hope you wont take offence to me not liking ASUS. Just preference. -

Asus isn't using Lambo to sell computer - like Acer uses Ferrari..... Asus is expanding it's design by bringing in Lambo..... They're not trying to use their logo to sell notebooks, but rather their italian design to help breathe new life into the design of their systems (which probably didn't need much to begin with). Now the Vx1 is a V6 with bodywork.... which I don't like. But it was a way to use an already great system, modify it without a lot of investment from Asus or Lambo... and get the brand started and reviewed.... I mean we found out about the Lambo model early in the year and it's still not out in the US and it's basically time for a new model year. That was the point.... invest little and make a very limited edition model and get rave reviews - which it has... And then come back with the next model that had more time and money invested into it and is more like 90% Lambo / 10% Asus instead of the Vx1 which is the other way around. That will be awesome and that is actually less "Asus using Lambo" to sell computers and more "Lambo using Asus" to sell them. I could get into it further, but there's really no need. I've never heard of anyone who doesn't like Asus, only has never heard of them or loves them.... To "not like them" as a matter of "preference" would have to mean..... or at least should, that you've used their systems and for some reason prefer something else. Otherwise, you don't know what you're missing.
But again, you don't know what you're talking about because the V6j sells for $2,000.... this has a higher spec, better warranty (1 year ZBD lcd warranty), and a hand painted lid directly from Lambo in Bolonga.... Expensive, yes.... but the cost of the paintjob itself actually makes up most of the difference in the cost. It's not for everyone, but that's why it's a limited edition. So, you can call it a "rip", but most people like to understand things before they make blanket judgements. -

How does it do on the 1/4 mile?
-

Haha... I think the next go around is going to easily pull under 12 in the 1/4.... this one was more for show.
Anyway...... guess what... this model won't even be available.... they're already sold out. We may get some once they change over to 64bit, but as far as the US allocation, every single one is going to Lambo dealers and to shows like I linked to above. Asus said a lot of Lambo owners have pre-purchased a black and a yellow model... and the official count for production on this model was only a few thousand worldwide and my numbers of a few hundred to the US was accurate.
Black and yellow are Lambo's most distinct colors.... I don't see more colors being available, although maybe some more will be....... but I doubt it.... we'll see. -

A 15" with merom and X1800 would well suit the Lambo name!

Well I don't think we're going to see what should be dubbed the Vx2 until the Santa Rosa platform is out in late Q1 next year....... so anything can happen there.

As I've already mentioned, I'm not overly impressed with the VX1. An extra $1000-1400 AUD for a (very) nice paintjob and an overclocked GPU just doesn't excite me.
The prospect of the V1J becoming the VX2 however, does appeal. -

Especially if they can put the X1700, X1800, or 7900gs in it with santa rosa

All that Asus wanted to impress was magazines and Lambo owners........ which they have.. This model doesn't impress me and doesn't impress the guys at Asus...... so it shouldn't impress all that many people on the forum if you fell from the same tree as us.

Hopefully Vx2 will sport a widescreen.

This notebook actually looks quite apealing except for the inevitable price tag. (and the fact that you can't actually get one)
I've had my eye one the v6j for a while, and a slightly overclocked version with a sweet paint job would have been great, but not for more than an extra $150.
Anyways, any word on when or if they will start putting core 2 duos in the v6j? -
PROPortable Company Representative
Yeah, well for $150 you don't get Lamborghini to actually paint your system...... and sligthly overclocking your graphics card is something that can be done with Omega drivers quite easily....
If you know of the V6j - you probably won't really want or get a Vx1..... Those are to bring in a totally new group of people who don't know who Asus is and who have more money than everyone in the forum combined....
Late September / Early October is the latest date Core 2 Duo's should start coming over in Ensembles....... the W5 and V6 are the first two models I believe will be updated, so they should be the first here. -
Newegg has some pics and priced at $2799
