Dammit, why did they only run the 3DMark06 CPU test? I am really curious to see the test results for the 8600M.
-
as per this 2 hour old "article" you'll start to see these benchmarks flowering over the net in no time
-
specs look nice, i bet price is gonna go up.
-
I'm interested in the battery results. I want to see if they can manage to pull off better battery life as some has said the platform runs hot.....
-
according to the article, the Santa Rosa VX2S has a battery life of 2 hours, 28 minutes with Power 4 Gear disabled, wifi & bluetooth off, and mid-level screen brightness, and under the same conditions, the Napa VX2 gets 2 hours, 13 minutes
-
thanks for the link, very nice find, I am going to save up for this one now, if BR drive is included that would be a bonus,
-
nice this is exactly what im looking for
hopefully the price wont be more than the current VX2 -

Engadget marks another source to "confirm" the same specs...
Hopefully, the SR refresh should be due within the next two months, if not soon. -

Notebookitalia says that weight is 2.8 kg with 8-cell battery. That's nice.
-
Who ever heard of a Lamborghini with a 5400 RPM HDD? Lame!
-
I think all of the VX Lamborghini models have had 5400RPM hard drives. They just have the biggest and most expensive hard drives available.
EDIT: I guess not. This is the same hard drive used in the VX1 too. Its not that slow though, I think it is the best performing 5400RPM hard drive, but its kinda disappointing that they didn't get either the 200GB 7.2k or 250GB 5.4k drives in there. -
what kind of prices are expected on these?
-
looks like about $2,700 or so.

Nice...
So other than the cool looks and Blue-ray, what does this have that the G1S doesn't? Do you think it's worth the price? G1S will also have same GPU so it doesn't really seem like that much better of a laptop. -
-
It is actually because it reduces battery life.
Gateway does offer 7200 rpm standard but the manufacturer loses say 15 mins of tested battery life with the 7200 rpm, which it then has to label. -
Still... I agree, how can you call it a Lamborghini with a 5400 drive? Hitachi claims their new 7200 drive uses same power and puts out same heat as a 5400 which should nullify such concerns. They should be considering a raptor in this bad boy with such a name!

What about the regular v2je? Any news on it?

how much are we anticipating this to be?

Someone earlier said about 2700 USD, I think it is going to be closer to 3200 USD personally.

this is everything i wanted, well everything except a led backlit screen... but thats gonna be a while... whats the deal with the 2 month santa rosa refresh??
and this is the santa rosa with an 800 fsb platform right?!?!? wtf are all the SR notebooks carrying ddr2-667??? wheres the ddr2-800?? -
The Santa Rosa chipset only supports DDR2-667. The Ram speed and FSB are 2 seperate things.

I know that probably said it, but CPUs are quad pumped, meaning that they transmit data (on a sine wave) at each critical point and each zero. That means that the actual clock is 200 MHz. quad pumped to 800. RAM is double pumped, meaning that it transmits every critical point, so 400 MHz ram would match the speed.

Has anyone seen this lappy yet?

Is this the GDDR2 version on the GT?

He's asking whether this 512mb VRAM is GDDR2 or GDDR3. There are two versions of the 8600GT.

First Off I am new to these forums. Anyways I was looking around at laptops and became very interested in the VX2. However after realizing that it is missing: HDMI, DX10, E-Sata, Blu-Ray, and a few other things, I decided to investigate some more. I came upon the VX2S. Anyways I talked to Asus yesterday and asked them about this laptop. They said that it should be out within the next few months. Then I have been looking on ebay every day to see if someone somehow managed to get their hands on one of these. Something very interesting happened today. Yesterday I saw about 20 auctions for the VX2(Not VX2S), now I only see 2. And those 2 say Make Best Offer. This leads me to believe that we may see the VX2S soon. Also I looked on newegg and a few days ago they had both colors, now they only have 1. This also leads me to believe that this laptop may come soon. Hopefully it does because I am looking to purchase this. This is also going to be my first laptop and a laptop for college. I am paying for it. Anyways just thought I let you know what I discovered on ebay and newegg. If any more information comes around please post in here and I also will do the same.

The only upgrade ( at the moment) for the VX2s GFX is to downgrade to the 8600m GT 256 GDDR.
Im curious has anyone done this yet? Seems like the 8600 256 is the fastest MXM II...(tell me im wrong).... I need to upgrade this s**t for the money i paid im not impressed with the GFX.
