Hi, people! Someone unloaded a broken down, giant, hunk of junk Dell Laptop on me (an Inspiron 5150). Doesn't power on- mother board problem. So I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions of a nice laptop barebone that I can transfer all its guts into. It's got a Pentium 4 chip with pc2700 ram. I dont know if the Asus whitebooks are capable of Pentium non-M. Thanks.

You could get an A2h.. Z8l I believe..... it's been a year and a half since we offered any p4 systems, but you should still be able to find a p4 barebone around.... But you can't put a p4 into the p-m's motherboards......

The better question is why would you want to do that?

Pentium 4's are becoming obsolete for notebook use (thats why proportable is no longer selling them).

Actually... that is a good question.......... unless you have a top end p4 that is' still worth atleast $400... it's not worth it........ You're better off building out a cheap desktop with it...

Well yeah, I still have to rip it open to see if it's worth salvaging. I've been checking out the prices on the Z81L and A2h, it's in the ballpark of getting a Z70V. I've already got one of those, I may just get another barebone and a new processor and try to salvage the HD, DVD and wireless (if possible). But like I said, i havent powered it up yet, its messed up. I'll rip it apart later tonight.
