Can any of you provide the specs of the brightness, contrast ratio and response time for your laptop LCDs in contrast to the typical specs on popular desktop LCD monitors? We have heard a lot of the high quality of the LCD screens on the W5, the V6 and the ACE LCD (no longer existed on laptops), how good are they in the standards of desktop LCDs?

Typical values of the specs for popular desktop LCD monitors:

Brightness: 250 cd/m^2 (the higher, the better)
    Contrast ratio: 500:1 (higher, better)
Response time: 16 ms (shorter, better for gaming, 3d simulation etc.)

Until now, no companies of laptop PCs dare to release these specs of their notebook PCs!

I know the brightness and contrast is usually listed on Asus' spec pages....... the responce time usually isn't.

I can tell you that I have a sony 23" widescreen with a samsung panel which specs out as the following:

    brightness: 250
    contrast: 500:1
    responce time: 16ms

Now I know thats like an OK 17 or 19" panel... but it's awesome for 23" ........ I can say that the 15" SXGA+ ACE view screen had better brightness, contrast, and when compared to my 19" with a 12ms RT, I'm willing to bet that had a 12ms RT as well.

I think the average brightness and contrast on all of the screens Asus is using are atleast 250 & 500:..... I'm willing to bet they are mostly all 16ms RT as well...

You can look up some of the screens...... like the W1 90% of them of the more expensive 15.4" samsung makes.... it's not too hard to look that one up, even without a model number.

    Thanks,
    Justin

Thanks alot for the useful input!

Could you further list the links to the sites where I can look up those specs for the laptops? Thanks in advance.

well, last I knew... the specs were on Asus' sites.... but maybe I am wrong (maybe they are spec sheets we get).....

Other than that... do a google and look up some samsung, phillips, LG and hansol panels.. Those are what I see the most in these systems.

    Thanks,
    Justin
