I've been 'shopping' for the right laptop for months now, both in-store and online. I was sooooo close to ordering one online, through a boutique shop that will also customize your system, until I found one of the Asus models I've been considering - available through Costco.

I decided to place my order with them as the ram and wireless card are the only 2 things I was going to upgrade anyway, and with this particular model, I'll be able to do it myself, with ease. But what really made me decide to give them a try was due to the fact that not only do you get Asus' full warranty, but Costco gives you 90 days in which to return it, no restocking fee or anything! THAT, is something I couldn't find being offered anywhere. The most I found was a place that gave you 15 days in which to return it.

I decided to go for it and ordered it on Friday. Today when I checked my email, I see that it's already been shipped and the expected date of delivery is tomorrow (Monday). THAT's fast if you ask me.

Anyhow, I thought I'd pass this info out to ya'll, in case the full manufacturer's warranty and 90 day return policy is like gold to you too.

Hopefully the rest of my purchasing experience with them will be positive.

If anyone else has anything to add, please do so.

I just bought an Aser 7745 from Costco for the same reasons you outlined. They also doubled the manufacturer's warrenty to 2 years. This is like platinum to me. Double bonus! To top it off their price was lower than elsewhere. They also have concierge service if you have support issues. Best of luck with your new purchase.

Yup. It's too bad costco only GENERALLY gets in the same models as best-buy. Usually no bluetooth, etc.

Mine came w/ Blue Tooth, and this model (the N61) wasn't available at Best Buy (which is why I was going to buy one thru an online boutique).

Seriously, you can't beat the 90-day return policy ... after having it a week, I'm getting a feeling for whether I'm going to like it or not. (I really, really, really want to know if there's a fix for the webcam (it totally sux - the lag time is atrocious!) - and - if I'm going to be able to transfer video from our video camera to the laptop. (The firewire express card is seen by the puter, but not as an imaging device nor by Windows Movie Maker.) I bought a multimedia laptop for a reason - and two of them are not exatlly cooperating for me at the moment - so thank God for the 90-days in which to find out whether they can be fixed or not.
