    Laser etching on W3J

    Ca I get laser etching on my W3J with the aluminum lid?

    You CAN...you can do anything to your notebook :D. I just don't know WHERE you'll do it, and if it'll void your warranty.

    I know Sony SZ's have that option. At the mall near me there is a store that deals with special wedding/award gifts that can do etching on tons of stuff. I think they could do something with the w3j.

    We have a pretty powerful 65w laser cutter..... and that'll do it...... you need about 30w to even burn through the anodizing... That's a royal pain... anodizing is the second hardest substance next to a diamond (mil spec 3), but even the anodizing used on something like the W3 lid is still pretty hard, certainly at least doubles the hardness of the aluminum surface... that's just have to get through.

    ... and even a 30w laser cutter goes for about $15k.

    Well personally I'd use a diamond tipped saw. I'm only half joking....
