I purchased a W3J and extended warranty back on 17 July 2006. Being the idiot that I am, I assumed that my extended warranty was already applied.

I finally called ASUS and decided to check on that assumption and learned that I didn't have an extended warranty. Two minutes later, I had fished around the box my W3J came in and found the extended warranty registration card.

If you don't know, the registration card says (many times over) that it needs to be completed and returned to ASUS "within 15 days of purchase".

From this Post from ProPortable it seems like I'm SOL.

Does anyone have any advice? I haven't filled out the card yet, when it asks for dates of purchase for the notebook and warranty, should I fill in something a little more recent?

Man.. I love some of the handles people are coming up with.... the more people the register here, the more creative people need to get...

Anyway... I'm not just going to say you're SOL, although it's something that really needed to be done and Asus is really clear about it. I'm not sure where you bought your W3, but I know that we always place that packet right above the notebook box so it's the first thing people see when they open the box. Asus is doesn't have many guidelines, but they really stick to what they've got. Now, in your defenese, I really don't like how the warranty packages are done.... we pay all this money upfront for a little packet of papers..... then sell that packet to customers with their notebooks... and the only way Asus knows you have it is if you fill it out and get it back to them. Personally, I've tried to get them to allow us to register customers online so they don't even need to bother, but until that time we only have their rules to go by.

I'm not suggesting anything, but all Asus wants to see is an invoice dated no more than 15 days prior to the date of the postmark on the return envelope.... take that as you will... Asus' real issue is getting warranties registered ASAP and not a year down the road where the documentation is hard to come by...... so, give Asus a call and see what they say... don't give them your name or your serial number..... if they say you're out of luck, drop me an email and I could see if I could *help*.

Thanks Justin. I called ASUS and spoke to a couple of different reps. One seemed clueless but she thought I could send the card in still. The other one I'm getting back to. I'll let all of you know what happens.
