Hey guys, does anyone know a fix to download the latest (186.03) NVidia drivers for the G71GX-RX05. When I try to install I get a "There are no supported drivers to be updated" error, or something along those lines. I downloaded the latest driver from Asus's site but it is from 2/2/2009. Thanks!

G51 owner reported the same thing, i forget if they found an exacting solution to it or not. I would personally download and install driver sweeper, boot into windows safemod (using f8) wipe out the display drivers, reboot and then try to install.

If it still doesnt work repeat and try DOX 185.85 as they may bypass the restriction and i know for a fact they support the 200M series.

add your own device to the list. look at how the lines at the top and bottom of the .inf are structured, and you can find the gtx260M hardware id in device manager.

So when I try to boot up wow my screen just goes to black and I cannot alt+tab or ctrl+alt+del out. My only solution is to hold the power button down. I've tried deleting the and Cache folders and restoring wow to the default settings however nothing is working. Any ideas?

You are probably not aware this model (which has only been out 3 days) is known to have problems right now? The widespread problem is after only minutes into a game when the video card reaches around 82C the voltage drops and the games become unplayable due to framerates dropping to nothing.

While starting a game should work just fine, just saying there are current known problems with the G71VX-RX05, all over the asus section, believe i saw a couple of bad reviews on bestbuy about it as well.

I'm aware but I thought I would at least be able to start the game up...

out of the 16 people that reviewed it they all had the problems but could start the game. where is the laptop when you start? maybe its heating up much faster than the others due to position?

I have a cooling fan right under it and it doesn't seem to be getting THAT hot when I start to run it.

hmm that doesnt sound like the same problem to me... you might want to consider exchanging it at best buy.
