I was wondering what the latest drivers would be for the x600 mobile on the z70. Would the same catalyst drivers that work on desktops be ok? Any input would be great!

    Cheers!

Normal ATI stock drivers wont work, you will need to mod them first. Otherwise you can try omega's or dna drivers, these work on mobile gpu's. Although ATI has just made there stock drives mobile compatible, currently there are only a handfull of compatible laptops, and then think only the X700 and X800 are supported. Read more here: http://apps.ati.com/ir/PressReleaseText.asp?compid=105421&releaseID=718798

For the ati mod tool go here: http://www.driverheaven.net/patje/

for omega drivers go here: http://www.omegadrivers.net/

But beware, although many users successfully use these drivers there are possible stablity issues, and you use these at your own risk...personally my lappie seemed to always get BSOD when I used the above drivers. Also I found that although older, the ASUS stock drivers were actually faster for games.

I'm currently using omega cat, its brings out the true potential of my x600, before that the stock x600 driver was preety crappy..

It truly depends.... I've had success and failure with the omega drivers based the system they were used on and the type of program or games I was using. The one thing that has usually always been easily identified has been the increase in 3D Mark scores.... the usual signal to those gamers that they're getting better performance..... but it's not always that easy..... it's a trial and error process and if you don't know what you're doing you could potentially fry your gpu.... and that's not an easy one to explain because it can basically only happen when trying to overclock it....

    Good luck.

    Thanks,
    Justin
