Can anyone comment on the durability of the leather palm-rests some Asus laptops have?
What shape are they in after a years medium/heavy use?

I can't say for all Asus laptops with leather palm rests, but the leather on the U6 series feels tough and durable. But like any leather products, they will wear down with time. This however, shouldn't be too much of a problem since Asus will replace the palm rest for free (at least for the first 2 years of use).
