I am new to all of this and have read in a couple of reviews about light leakage. Could someone please explain what this is? Thanks.

You notice it most on an all black screen. But basically an lcd panel has light behind it to illuminate the display. sometimes the illumination is not even. some areas normally on the bottom or top of the screen across are much brighter than the rest of thepanel. this creates uneven colors. and can be distracting especially when watching movies. its normaly a sign of poor contruction or design.

Hmmm... Can light leakage occur over time as wear on the monitor? I've recently noticed it on my Viewsonic.... maybe this is my perfect reason to ditch it and get a new LCD ;)

Ive heard of it occuring on desktop LCDS over time. But i have never really seen it happen. So it is rare in that sence. but on laptops ive never read anywhere it will get worse over time.
