When I turn the brightness down to 0%, the right half of my screen is still visible while the left half is completely black...and it's pretty darn visible. At first I thought it was something like a burned in image or something. But it continued when I changed the wallpaper (so obviously not a burn in) and continued this every time I turned the brightness to 0%.
When the brightness is anything but 0% the difference between the two sides becomes very small. The right side is brighter, but you have to pay real close attention.
So..is this an issue of light leakage? Or what is it? Should I even consider returning it? Right now, I'm not really thinking about it cause it's not really a problem (since I'm never actually using it at 0% brightness). But would this develop into a larger problem over time?
Thanks ahead of time guys! (and btw, my S96J is only 3 and a half days old...so it's not a problem from continued use and abuse...)

My Z96J is exactly the same. At 0 the left side is not visible much at all, it's especially dark at the lower left corner, but the right side is very bright.
Out of curiousity, at lower brightness settings does your screen flicker as well?
Thnx,

Mine is brighter on the right side too, although my screen never goes black. It is still readable at the lowest brightness setting.
I have an A8J. -

Who the hell uses it at 0% Brightness?
There is some on the lower-right when you do.
Otherwise, the lighting is pretty **** good and even. -
jup, I've noticed the same on:
Z92U, A6Vc, A6Km, Z92M.

my guess is taht its a single lamp backlight, with the lamp being located on the right side, its no concern on any useable brightness, i wouldnt worry

Most screens have some or alot of light leekage. Most of asus models did and do. WHy is this such a surprise?>
-
I'm not saying I'm surprised. I was kind of expecting it on any laptop. I just want to make sure my issue isn't some kind of extreme case (which I think I've found out it isn't), and if there's any foreseeable concerns for it in the future (which there doesn't seem to be).

Due to manufacturing proccess light leekage can vary even on the same model lcd but i doubt you have any reason to be concerned. Thats just my oppinion. I am pretty sure you will find countless people around these parts that think of lite leekage as a defective lcd.
Light leakage? on S96J
