not sure if people would agree or not, but i thought it would be a good idea to list links on where to get parts for a Z62F/J (or other models if parts are compatible). to make it easy for people to price or find parts. Barebones, CPUs, DDR2 533 or 667, 5400RPM or 7200RPM SATA drives, Intel 3915, etc.

It's too early for that, and it's going to be pretty expensive I would assume, early adapters usually pay a higher price due to the avaliability.

well what parts are you looking for?

677 ddr2 isn't really out yet..... but the systems take 533 at well

    sata hard drives are out

the cpus are going to be slightly impossible to find for sale seperately as stock is almost non-existant and they will go to builders first for the most part...

I just had some cpu's cross my desk and they were mainly 2.0ghz yonahs.... I'm looking at a price 50% more than a 2.0ghz dothan......

A 2.0ghz yonah is about $25-30 more than a 2.13ghz dothan.... so that's what you can expect.

What about the quality construction of the Z62f? SImilar to Z63A? The estimated price tag seem lower than Z63A and some barabone units will come with DVDRW included. Is there a catch?

That's what I want to know too!

Fact of the matter is, the Z62f is a much better deal than the Z63a. You can get a better-spec'd Z62f for a lower price than a Z63a  ! I know it doesn't seem to make sense, but check ISTNC.

I'll probably go with the Z62j when it comes out (assuming the sound is better than on the Z62f/Z63a, due to the speakers being front-facing and rather large), which will probably be a little more expensive (don't know how much - it gets nvidia graphics but loses the webcam). But we barely know anything about these two! Obviously they're not as pretty as the Z63a, but we know nothing about how the build quality, heat, and battery life compare.

haha i actually just started a new thread on that exact same question, i think besides the ddr2-667 and dual cores the other parts should be easy to find, which is really just HD and 3945 adapter, which i've found, you only really save about $50 for the HD otherwise its a push for the other parts, the DVDRW's are about the same price as resellers so it looks like i'm gonna have them build it instead
