    Dear all,

Has anyone installed linux on the w2v (especially B) model? Any hints on what are the problematic drivers?

    Regards,

The video card is the only issue at least with suse. someone said mandrake 10.1 works fine though.

Honestly i didnt install suse i just tried to run the suse live dvd and run the OS from it just to see how it works. The screen just goes blank mid load and i cant do anything. I saw someone else same the same thing on a suse install that the screen just went blank so they had to install mandrake and there was no issues with it. i really dont know what to do to get past it as i havent tried.

I just installed Suse 10.0. The strange thing is that it recognizes all the hardware, but the Video Card indeed does not work properly. Thanks for the help anyways.

    Hi,
i've successfully set up an ubuntu 5.10 on my w2v , about the video card, right after the install, X couldn't launch (blank screen) because of a misconfiguration pb, after having modifie Xorg.conf file, everything is ok.

    here is my device section

    Section "Device"
Identifier "ATI Tech Radeon mobility X700"
    Driver "ati"
    BusID "PCI:1:0:0"
    Option "CRT2Position" "clone"
    Option "MonitorLayout" "LVDS,CRT"
    EndSection

    wifi card is ok
    ethernet card is ok
    video is ok

There are still some problems on ubuntu after install

Sound doesn't work : is seems that we have to upgrade to latest ALSA drivers to have sound working.

Modem doesn't work: i've not yet dig google to know if there is a workaround.

TV Tuner doesn't work, we have to use latest v4l code to make it working.

    Hope it helps

    cheers
    spotk
