So i came up with an idea. Instead of charging 49$ a year we will charge only 1$ per year. Here is our gurantee for your laptop.
To make it short but sweet. if you laptop is not stolen your 49$ are gone. if it is stolen we will give you back 49$. fair deal?

yes...so instead after three years, if the computer is stolen, we'd only lose $51 instead of $99?

    no no
you would loose just the computer. we will refund you the purchase price of the software.
Anyways it was a joke. This is the equivalent of geico saying "buy your insurance with us, if you crash your car we will may or may not pay anyone but we will certainly refund all your insurance charges"
I can not belive dell actually bundles this. I am amazed.

    No lol
I just thought it was funny. You loose if your laptop does not get stolen, but you dont gain anything if it is. How does this work? they file a claim with the local sheriff telling him "we traced the laptop to this ip which is originating from this address". Cops show up and some dude that got it on ebay is using it? brilliant
The quote is from an actual company that sells this product and is bundled with dell laptops

well it works a bit different on cars
but on a laptops without a gps tracking device.....
this is the biggest load of $hit i have ever seen. i can not believe this is legal. as far as i know lojack for laptop does not put any tracking device on your laptop. i am just dumbfounded. like how many unsuspecting people do they intend to attract? i guess they are a dime a dozen if this stuff is bundled with dell now which doesnt charge anything for it which means lojack will not refund you anything if it is stolen and odds are they wont recover nothing either

This is why I'd go with xtool over lojack any day.

xtool uses a multitude of methods to track your theif, from using a built in webcam if avaliable to gps tracking.

Now if I could just find a slim line expresscard with gps built in that will not stick out an inch I'd do it...

The reason why I have my Asus laptop I am currently using is because my previous laptop was stolen. I have only left my laptop in my car 3 times that I can remember in the last 2 years. So 727 times I did not leave it in my vehicle... but it didn't matter. I also lock my car constantly, I have an RF key lock and I use it.

Also both programs install outside of the partition table of the OS, or atleast the IP tracking part does. So even if they erase your drive you should still be able to track their IP. Maybe lojack and xtool has some deal with ISPs to force them to reveal the user I don't know.

If the thief replaces the hard drive you're out of luck.
