My new F3JM won't allow me to change the Explorer Home Page from www.asus.com. I've edited the registry to remove the entry forcing the home page but www.asus.com is restored on the next reboot. This smacks of spyware behavior, so I've swept the drive for viruses and spyware...clean. My suspicion is that one of the asus utilities (asus update, LifeFrame, Splendid, or Power4Gear) is at fault.

Has anyone experienced this problem with their asus?

    Use firefox? :p

Hmmm, I opened IE, the ASUS main page loaded, went to Tools, changed it to blank, restarted IE, the main page is now a blank...

Umm... maybe you have an over-aggressive anti-spyware/firewall software like Spybot S&D or Norton Internet Security?

Ditto that.... never seen that before and certainly isn't something hard coded from Asus. If it's not a software program you installed (spyware, firewall, etc), then I couldn't sell you. It doesn't make any sense for this to be caused by any of the programs you listed as they have nothing to do with explorer anyway....

You may go to the "run" and type "msconfig", and click the "startup", disable some software which relate to Internet or web service. If you don't know which one, you must mark it and check it one by one until it can fix.
    Cheers

Problem solved. AlexF nailed it. I upgraded to V5.0 Spysweeper. The V5.0 of Spysweeper has an IE hijack shield that is supposed to prevent unauthorized switching of the startup page, but apparently it can't tell the difference between me changing it manually and an external program changing it. So you have to go into Spysweeper and change the startup page THERE.

The V4.5 Spysweeper was a little less zealous about hijack shielding.

    Thanks to all.
