The Asus U30JC and the UL30JT seemed a little too big at 13in screen... The Asus 1018p looks to be well made, but lacks the graphic power to run HD content... and the Asus Eee PC 1215n has the perfect guts of a netbook, but lacks the build quality. But it looks like Asus might have put everything I want together! Those of you interested in get a portable notebook that is small and well contructed and maybe powerful enough to run HD content (I say this because there is a HDMI port), I believe we have our answer! Check it out! It looks pretty interesting  ...

Great find there, Si3. I like how all the ports are located on the back. Gives it a nice clean finish.

Wow, I have my little asus 1000h and it's been great, but ately I've noticed that even it has been looking a little outdated, what with the iPad and a few other netbook offerings. this new eeepc looks very sexy, might decide to give my old man the "out dated" 1000h

Yeah, I can't wait to see what's under the hood! I'm soo~ tired of taking out the G73JH and having a limited amount of battery that I'm desparately looking for something like this for everything other than gaming, encoding, and the likes.

Here's my guess on it so far...

-A screen thats 1366x768 resolution (because of the HDMI)
-A graphics chip that is capable of HD streaming (ION2 with optimus, or Broadcom, again because of the HDMI port)
-Great battery life that is at least 6hrs or greater with at least the intel atom N450 (hopefully the Duel Core Atom N500!)

As long as it has these things and comes out in a reasonable time and price, I'll be first to sign up!

It seems like it would be in the price range of $600-$700 at the most. So like you said, hoping for a cheaper price!

With the ION2 and DUAL CORE atom that would be resonable.
This thing is so thin, looks amazing everytime I look at it.

Looks like the vostro V13 but better in all aspects (except CPU if its not dual atom).
Eitherway that's the little brother of the UX30. I wonder if they will announce a UX series with aluminium chassis, probably next year.

This netbook looks so slick it might even change my mind from getting the asus u30jc. If it stays under €500 and has a minimum battery life of 7 hours this will be my next gadget for taking notes in class. The money that I would have spend otherwise on a more expensive 13 inch laptop, would then be available for upgrading the gpu in my acer, or just kept aside for a future gaming laptop as a desktop replacement.
After waiting sinds xmas 2008 it looks like the laptop/netbook market is finally offering me what I want, for decent prices.

Mods could we have this thread and merged into this thread ( http://forum.notebookreview.com/asus/482387-official-waiting-eeepc-1218-thread.html)? No need to have two floating around. It doesn't matter to me how you want to merge them ;) .

As for those of you that was waiting for the news on May 13th, unfortunately it didn't have anything to do with the Asus Eee Pc 1218. Asustek talk about the second half of the line up for 2010. The focus was on the U-Bamboo and NX/N/U series:

    + U-Bamboo series 13.3, 14.1, and 15.6-inch
    + NX90JQ
    + N53Jh 15.6-inches
    + U35 13.3-inches
    + U45 14.4-inches

Heres the link :) , check it out yourself! Asustek announces notebook lineup for 2H10

Looks like we those of us that are looking for a decent netbook is going to have to wait in the dark :( ... Here's hoping for more news soon!
