I am looking to get a laptop for $500-$1000. I browsed the site and newegg, found a few matches.

    1) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834220461

There isn't much information on this one. I want to know if it will support 1440x900 resolution, not 1280x800? This looks to be a good buy judging from the specs. The only thing I didn't like is the fingerprint feature. I just wonder if it will eat power like crazy - I plan to travel and spend a little time on the road.

    2) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834220459

Other than the processor being lower, I don't see what else is different. Does anyone know? This one didn't turn up much on google, either.

    TIA

That N50 will not support 1440*900. The fingerprint reader functionality can be turned off at will. Overall it's a good laptop. I have the M51 and my friend has this laptop and likes it. Depending on how much you game and which ones you play you'd probably be better off with the X59SR. The Dedicated card in the N50 will suck a considerable amount more juice than the 3470 will.

The X59SR will also only support 1280*800. The big difference other than the CPU is the dedicated graphics.

    n50vn-b1b and n50vn-c1s both have 1440x900
    n50vn-c2s has 1680x1050
    n50vn-a1b has 1280x800
fingerprint reader can be disabled in bios or device manager however it does not consume power. bluetooth does consume power and can be disabled

Well, that sucks, then. I like the 1440x900 resolution.

The only game I play is WoW WotLK. It puts a strain on my currenty system, which is getting a bit long in the tooth anyway.

How would both of them will do with WoW?

2play, thanks. Will look these models up and see if it's anything I'd like.

cuse, i saw you bought the X59 still satisfied with the purchase? I'm considering it myself, the specs should be fine for what i need to do and i like it's look better than the N50

There is an N50 which handles 1440x900 also available on new egg. What made you go with the X59 over that one?
