I am actually looking for the battery that goes in optical bay drive. I have been looking through a lot of resellers but have yet to find one in stock.

    Main 90-NCC1B1000
    Secondary 90-NCB1B1000

eh? i thought the 'main' battery was 70-NCC1B1000
(how many cells i dont remember)

the 'secondary' battery is 8 cells... called: 90-NCB1B1000

I don't know why they call it primary and secondary batteries...

other than that the primary, which is what comes w/ the w3v when you buy it... has less cells than the secondary battery...

but i think prices for the primary and secondary are the same.

Actually the W3 series has 2 types of main batteries, one that is 4 cells and one that is 8 cells.

All the W3 laptops come with an 8 cell main battery when you buy it.
Then you have the option for the 6 cell 3600mAh modular bay battery.

And yes the prices for the main and secondary batteries are very similar in prices, sometimes exactly the same.

thanks... but i'm confused.. and i dont have my asus in front of me, it's home and i'm not... so it comes with 90-NCB1B1000 or 70-NCC1B1000...

the asus store labels the 90-NCB as secondary.. does that mean it's the 6 cell modular bay one... what's modular bay... like a backpack battery that doesn't pop into the LCD hinge?

abcabc, the modular bay battery is this:
    http://www.milestonepc.com/canada/product_info.php?cPath=187_87_183&products_id=700
This is a 6 cell battery that would go into the multi-bay, which is a feature that the W3 series has.

The multi-bay is a feature in which the optical drive can be removed, and instead be replaced with a modular battery like above, or an extra hard drive.

So for some people who want more battery life, they would take out the optical drive and store it, and put in the battery. If the user wants to use the optical drive, the user would have to remove the modular bay battery and put in the optical drive.

In the case of someone using the hard drive a user who needs more space, they can use the hard drive housing, then place the hard drive into and then put it into the open slot, and now the user will have 2 hard drives.
