Hi, just looking in to getting a Blu-ray burner for my notebook. How hard is it to change out with the one installed. Does it need to be sata drive? Any one else done this and where did you buy yours?

    Thx

Until you're confident in your BluRay burner's capabilities, I'd recommend you verify your DVD's and BluRays after burning them. My luck with BluRay burners wasn't good at all. See below.

Good luck and keep us posted!

To answer your questions: I don't have the G71 but I have the G51. To remove the drive requires you to remove 2 screws and then just pull it out. And yes, your BluRay burner must be a Sata drive. You might see if GenTechPC has one to sell you.

    Good luck!

Thx linuxguy for the info. Just looking right now. Maybe just doing more checking first. Kind of like the other link you had.

    Thx again.
